Isn't this just browser tabs?

Tabs are separate documents: you cannot see one while you are on another. Earmark keeps a few views of the same app alive side by side, visible as live thumbnails, and switching back is instant with everything intact.

Does it slow my app down?

Only live views cost anything, and you choose how many with live_limit. Everything beyond that is a lightweight snapshot.

Is page content ever sent to my server?

No. Only the list of saved views is stored, and with the browser store not even that leaves the browser.

Does it work with Alpine and Livewire components on the page?

Yes. Saved views keep running as they were: Alpine state, Livewire polling, broadcasts and all.

Can visitors turn it off?

Visitors can keep the drawer tucked away, and turn off live previews. You can also leave <x-earmark> out of layouts where it does not belong.

Does it work on phones?

Yes, as a swipeable carousel along the bottom that appears when you scroll to the end of the page.
